Had these for just under two years now and had a second ‘failure’ so though I’d express my views on them.
Purchased in October 2024 but didn’t get to use them for ages due to work commitments, so they sat in their box. On their first outing (probably over 12 months had passed so out of guarantee) one of the two rubber tensioning straps broke after only a minimal amount of tension was applied. Fortunately it snapped at a point where we were still able to use the mirror as there was enough strap left.
The mirror is held in place on the housing of the cars door mirror by way of two screws, each fitted with a plastic swivelling footplate to spread the load. It’s only through luck and good observation that we haven’t lost one or more of these plastic feet. They are a terrible design and become detached every time they’re used. Absolutely rubbish. Almost, I would go as far to say, as not fit for purpose. It’s only because when you don’t lose them they actually perform quite well but, once lost, the mirror becomes more of an ornament in the.back of the car than a functional piece of kit.
Today, when attaching the mirrors the remaining piece of rubber strap (that snapped previously) snapped again but, of course, further back and this time rendering the mirror unusable. Great - drove back with just the regular car door mirror which was perfectly fine.. mostly.
This is unfortunate really as, when fitted they’re pretty good at being mirror extensions, they don’t flay around or vibrate too much and they’re very adjustable to get the view you need. But that’s only good when you are able to fit them…
Do I recommend d them? Probably as it’s not entirely unlikely we just had a dodgy rubber strap - I didn’t over tension on either occasion and they’re never left attached to the car so UV has t degraded the rubber.
Would I buy them again? Hmm , probably not as there are other brands out there…
